Terms of service

These terms govern your purchase from Henstead Homestead Co. (“Henstead,” “we,” “us”). By placing an order, you agree to the terms below.

Products and Descriptions

We make every effort to describe our coops accurately, including materials, dimensions, and capacity. Capacity figures (e.g., “10 to 12 hens”) are general guidance based on standard space recommendations, not a guarantee of fit for your specific flock, climate, or management style. Measure your space before ordering.

Predator-Aware, Not Predator-Proof

Henstead coops are built with galvanized welded mesh, locking latches, and reinforced construction intended to deter common predators. No coop, ours included, can be guaranteed predator-proof. Latching all doors nightly and maintaining hardware over time is the owner’s responsibility. Henstead is not liable for loss of livestock resulting from predator intrusion.

Local Regulations

It is the customer’s responsibility to confirm that keeping backyard poultry, and the structure itself, complies with local zoning, HOA rules, setback requirements, and any applicable permits before ordering. Henstead is not responsible for fines, removal orders, or losses resulting from a customer’s non-compliance with local regulations.

Assembly

Coops are shipped flat-packed and require assembly by the customer. Instructions and hardware are included. Henstead is not liable for injury, structural failure, or product damage resulting from improper assembly or failure to follow included instructions.

Pricing and Availability

Prices are subject to change without notice. We reserve the right to limit quantities, refuse or cancel any order, and correct pricing or listing errors, including after an order has been placed, in which case you will be notified and fully refunded.

Payment

Payment is processed securely at checkout. By placing an order, you authorize Henstead to charge your selected payment method for the full order amount, including applicable shipping and taxes.

Resolving Issues Before a Dispute

If something is wrong with your order, we want the chance to make it right directly; most issues can be resolved faster this way than through a bank dispute. Please contact us at hensteadcoops@gmail.com or 608-384-2611 before filing a chargeback with your bank.

If a chargeback is filed, Henstead will respond with all relevant documentation, including order confirmation, shipping and delivery records, and any prior correspondence, to the card issuer as part of the standard dispute process.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Henstead Homestead Co.’s total liability for any claim arising from your purchase, whether for a defective product, delayed shipment, or any other issue, is limited to the amount you paid for the product. Henstead is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of livestock, veterinary costs, or property damage, except where such limitation is prohibited by law.

This limitation does not affect any statutory rights you may have that cannot be waived under the law of your state.

Intellectual Property

All content on this site, including product photography, descriptions, and design, is the property of Henstead Homestead Co. and may not be reproduced without permission.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes apply to orders placed after the update is published. The version in effect at the time of your order governs that purchase.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict of law principles, except where superseded by applicable federal or state consumer protection law.
